Preparation & Usage
You will Need: 1/2 cup cold water Vegetable oil (enough to fill skillet 1/2 inch deep) Large bowl Large skillet Mix: 1. In a large bowl, combine contents of 1 packet with 1/2 cup water. Stir until well blended. Let stand 10 minutes. 2. Pour vegetable oil into a large skillet. (enough to fill skillet 1/2 inch deep). Heat skillet to 350°F. 3. Wet hands and shape batter into balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Cook: Working in batches, lower falafel balls carefully into hot oil and fry, turning occasionally, until golden brown, about 2 minutes. Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels. Each packet makes about 12 falafel balls when prepared as directed Deluxe Falafel Sandwich (makes 1 sandwich) 2 or 3 Manischewitz® Falafel Balls, prepared from mix as directed 3 tbsp. each; tahini and hummus 1 tbsp water 3/4 cup lettuce, chopped 1 small tomato, sliced 1/2 small English cucumber, peeled, seeded, and diced 1 pita bread, top 1/3 cut off Optional: 2 peperoncini, and 2 sour pickles Mix tahini, hummus and water in a bowl to make a sauce. Spread 1/2 the sauce inside the pita pocket. Stuff the pita pocket with a layer of lettuce, tomato, cucumber, the remaining sauce and the falafel balls. Serve with peperoncini and sour pickles if desired.
