Preparation & Usage
Baking & Handling Instructions Thaw (Do not microwave) 1. Best to thaw overnight in fidge. Leave at room temp 5-10 minutes before use. If necessary, thaw by leaving in pouch at room temp for 1 ½ to 2 hours until barely pliable and still cold. 2. Unroll directly onto ungreased pie pan sealing any cracks with your fingers. Press firmly into sides and bottom. Flute. crimp, or trim excess. Chill until ready to fill/bake. For recipes using a pre-baked pie shell Tip: first time baking? As ovens and pie pans vary, check often, adjusting times and temperatures. 1. Pre-heat oven to 450°. Important: cover the entire crust with aluminum foil, including the outer edges. To prevent sides from sinking and bottom from puffing, fill with pie weights, dried beans rice, or even coins. 2. Place pie pan directly on oven rack. Disposable aluminum tins should be placed on a sheet pan. Bake 17 minutes. 3. Remove weights and foil. Bake another 3-5 minutes until lightly browned. 4. Allow to cool and crisp up for about 15 minutes before filling. Par-bake for quiches/ fillings with sauces: 1. Start by following above for fully baked crust. 2. After removing foil at 17 minutes, add filling, cover edges with foil strips, continue fully baking. 3. If needed, brown edges for 1-2 minutes. For a single crust pie: 1. Fill raw pie crust and place on a sheet pan. 2. Protect the edges with foil strips crimped around them. 3. Bake according to recipe. Remove strips for last 3-4 minutes of baking. For a double crust pie: 1. Fill raw pie crust and place on a sheet pan. 2. Unroll second crust on top, tucking excess top crust underneath the bottom crust edge. 3. Crimp together and cut steam vents. Protect edges with foil strips. 4. Bake according to recipe. Remove foil strips for last 5-7 minutes of baking.
