Seafood Merchandiser

As a member of the Seafood team, you will be responsible for consulting with our ShopRite Members, store management, and retail staff with regard to the operations, and merchandising of our Seafood Departments.  You will also be charged with the implementation and successful execution of all resets, remodels, new store setups and openings.  Additionally, you will counsel our stores with regard to department sales, gross profit, shrink, product quality, safety/sanitation, training, and customer service.

To be considered, a candidate must meet the following requirements:

  • Four year college degree or currently enrolled in an accredited college program, strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years retail experience in supermarket Appy, Food Service and Seafood operations and/or merchandising with an emphasis on technical training and the preparation of action plans to improve business results.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, customer service, and P.C. skills as demonstrated by previous work experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • The ability to display and teach Customer Service Excellence at store level.
  • Flexibility with regard to travel (overnight stays required).
  • Production equipment knowledge and department design skills.

Retail Training Specialist

As a member of the Human Resources Training and Development Team your primary role will be managing and supporting retail Web Based Training (WBT) training courses/programs.  These courses are intended to provide entry-level retail Associates with the knowledge, skills, and behaviors that are critical to their success transitioning into the ShopRite organization.  You will also support other retail training and development initiatives and projects identified by Wakefern Food Corp. Management and the Retail Human Resources Committee.

To be considered a candidate an applicant must meet the requirements of the job:

  • Four year college degree preferred or Human Resources Certification.
  • Project management skills preferred.
  • Experience in successfully multi-tasking/managing priorities.

Communications Specialist

The Corporate Communications Specialist will develop communications strategies and programs predominately for internal audiences including Associates and members. Responsibilities include creating content for various communications vehicles, such as the Intranet, executive speeches (for Annual Meetings) and business communications and internal memorandum.  The position will provide cross-divisional communications expertise and counsel to ensure that all corporate communications are consistent in delivery and design and that they convey appropriate positioning of Wakefern Food Corp. business philosophy and service priorities.

To be considered a candidate an applicant must meet the requirements of the job:

  • Four year college degree preferred (English/Journalism Major).
  • 5 to 7 years proven writing/journalism experience in a corporate communications environment or public relations firm.
  • Fluency in Spanish to facilitate bilingual communications preferred.
  • Proven track record in creating corporate communications that increase and improve Associate productivity and business acumen.
  • Knowledge of wire services and familiarity with use of online media directories. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills (writing samples required).
  • Knowledge of the intranet and e-commerce applications.

Lifestage / Lifestype Category Manager, Corporate Marketing

As a member of the Corporate Marketing team focusing on Lifestage / Lifestyle Consumer Marketing, you will be responsible for developing and managing a sales-driving marketing program for the Kosher consumer segment. This position requires the constant oversight of a comprehensive, vendor funded marketing plan, developing and improving the consumer communication strategy for the yearly marketing program, analyzing the performance of its components, presenting program and results to vendors to obtain/maintain income along with managing expenses for the program.

Responsibilities include coordinating special circular ads, implementing targeted consumer programs, creating in-store ads and/or signage, and coordinating ShopRite’s participation in special events that resonate with the Kosher consumer.  Position requires the ability to solicit support and build rapport across all Wakefern divisions. The ability to successfully interact with Members, Stores and Committees to garner program support will be crucial.

The successful candidate will be able to utilize syndicated consumer information along with our "PricePlus" purchase behavior to develop strategies and tactics that will increase our share of the Kosher consumer’s spending and reduce impact from other competitors.  Must successfully leverage knowledge and expertise of the Kosher consumer with procurement division category managers to ensure strategic alignment among divisions.

  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment, with demonstrated ability to multi-task and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Proven leadership, assertiveness, interpersonal, analytical skills proficiency is essential.
  • Well developed oral and written communication skills including the ability to write and deliver both informal and informal presentations.
  • Other multi-cultural experience (products, promotions, language) a plus.
  • Must be proficient in the following PC programs:  WORD, EXCEL, POWERPOINT, with the ability to be trained on Microstrategy and our consumer data warehouse.

Dairy / Frozen Food Merchandiser

As a member of the Dairy/Frozen Food Team you will be responsible for consulting with our ShopRite Members, supervisors, store managers, and retail staff, with regard to the merchandising of ShopRite/PriceRite Dairy and Frozen Food Departments.  This position will be responsible for all of the PriceRite stores, as well as five Connecticut ShopRite stores.  You will be charged with the implementation of all Category Management plans through the supervision of vendor reset teams and the successful execution of all resets, remodels, new store setups and openings.  Additionally, you will counsel our stores with regard to departmental sales, gross profit, shrink, product quality, training and customer service.

To be considered a candidate, you must meet the minimum requirements of this position:

  • Four year college degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3-5 years retail experience in supermarket operations, and/or merchandising with an emphasis on Ethnic Merchandising.
  • Strong analytical leadership and customer service skills, as demonstrated by previous work experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.  Bi-lingual communication skills are a plus.
  • Knowledge of retail store operations related to sales, gross profit, labor requirements and retail merchandising.
  • This position requires significant travel and overnight stays.

Inventory Administration Associate

Under the direction of the Inventory Control Supervisor, the Inventory Administration Associate, is responsible for the accuracy of warehouse inventory through maintenance of the WMS system, daily cycle counting and reconciliatrion with the Rapid financial system. The Inventory Administration Associate also:

  • Participates in mid-year and year-end inventories of Haba, Nonfoods, and Full Service merchandise, as well as monthly "Speciality" inventories (Auxiliary Warehouses, etc.)
  • Performs item investigations, updated financial inventory and communicates findings to all appropriate levels internal and external to GM.
  • Assists in slotting and special projects as needed.
  • Uses PC skills to analyze and evaluate item information and clerical data. 
  • Maintains and produces reports for review by replenishment and for others as requested and assigned.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned or requested.

To be considered, a candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the posting:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, some college a plus.
  • Analytical, organizational, administrative skills, and work with a high degree of accuracy.
  • PC literate, with demonstrated data entry accuracy.
  • Flexibility with regard to work schedule including:  days, shifts, overtime, weekends, holidays.
  • Well developed oral and written communications and interpersonal skills required.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred.
